We caught up with a wonderful duo called KITTO ahead of THE GREAT ESTATE FESTIVAL....

Ahead of the Great Estate Festival which takes place at Scorrier House in Cornwall over the Jubilee Bank Holiday Queen’s extra long Coronation thingy weekend, we chatted to a band called KITTO. We covered loads of topics including musical influences, expectations for their live show, sharing a festival lineup with the likes of Aerosmith and Guns ‘n Roses and forthcoming new material. For all of this and WAY more, read on…..

You're based in Cornwall, do you have to travel in order to play live music?

Yes we tour a couple of times a year throughout Scandinavia France Australia and the UK.

What style of music do you play?

Psyche / Grunge / Alternative.

Who would you say are the band's musical influences?

Do you know what day/time/stage you're playing at the Great Estate Festival?

Live Acoustic Set on Sunday 5th June from 4.30 -5.30 pm at The Cornish Orchard Stage at The Great Estate.

What can the audience expect from your live show?

A little like an MTV unplugged vibe, acoustic-alternative plus harmonies and a little story telling to accompany the message behind the songs.

The bill is looking pretty good for this year, who else would you recommend the festival goers make a beeline for over the weekend?

Mad Dog McCrae are insane fun!

There seem to be more Cornish festivals popping up all over the county these days, what is it about them that keeps people coming back year after year?

I think it’s a sense of magical freedom in song and celebration. People make sense of their happiness, go and release, press the restart button. Celebrate who they are!

Tell me a funny story about a festival/show that you've attended in the past....

We ‘Kitto’ played the acoustic stage at Sweden Rock festival in 2010 approx 2500 people… The headliners Guns and Roses, Aerosmith, Danzig …. WASP plus legends on the other stages, the line-ups just keeps going but we have the tee shirt to prove it! We’re all in the same musical fishbowl!

Give me some bands or artists that you would like to headline at your own festival (you can choose ANY band/artist dead or alive)

Alice in Chains, Israel Nash, Flower Punch , (Bionics) Glen Campbell, Stone Temple Pilots, Phoebe Bridgers.

Please tell me about any new music that you have in the pipeline and when can we expect to hear it?

Bad Loser, Novelty, Wolf, Upside, Kite.. these are all in our 2022/23 batch of songs that we have in the pipeline, keep your eyes on the socials for more info as they are released.

Lastly, tell me your top three festival survival tips?

  1. Bring nothing but your soul

  2. Loads of water

  3. Loads of sunflowers, It’s all about making friends
