We chat to talented rock trio Everafter, based in East London. In January 2022, Everafter recorded their brand new single ‘ASAP’ with producer Matt Williams at Soundlab Studios in Debden. Once again the band have created a heavy sounding hard rock track and are really pleased with Matt’s production – the song has now been released and is available for streaming. We warn you, it's epic.
We like the slight shift in sound from your earlier album ‘Everything Is One’ and this latest track - what spurred that on?
We were already moving in a heavier direction on our second album ‘Remember’ (recorded in 2019) mainly due to Alexis digging deeper into his heavy metal roots with his songwriting. Also our drummer Ivan replaced our old drummer Tim on the second album and Ivan is a true metalhead at heart. The new single ‘ASAP’ which we recorded in January this year is a clear continuation of the hard rock sound we love.
What does a typical studio session look like for you guys?
Studio sessions for us are always really fun. We love being in the studio right from the beginning laying down the drums, right up to getting the final mixes sorted out. Working with producer Matt Williams for the first time on ASAP in January was a pleasure. We got on really well with him and we feel he has nailed the production!
Tell us about the East London scene that you’re a part of…
There is definitely a bit of a buzz in the East London rock scene at the moment. We have done a couple of gigs in Leytonstone with other bands we are friends with such as Hunting For Wolves, Pryma and L’Extravagante. We’re following the footsteps of Iron Maiden, who are also from East London.
We love the lyric video for your latest track ‘ASAP’ - one of our favourite lyrics has to be ‘Just Smile At The Lunacy’ - enlighten us a little more about this theme…
Ok so the song is meant to be a bit tongue in cheek. The message is that everyone can probably relate to being impatient at times but isn’t it a bit crazy to get all riled up with wanting and demanding everything ‘as soon as possible’? That’s why the line says ‘Just smile at the lunacy of the chase’.
