Burn It Down Festival takes place in Torquay on August 31st and there are over 30 bands performing including BASEMENT, FATHERSON, BLACK PEAKS & DREAM STATE
So you can learn more about as many of the acts as possible, we’re running a series of Q&A sessions on the site.
Next up are Exeter/Plymouth based Punk, Blues, Rock 'n' Roll, Hardcore quartet CROOKED LITTLE SONS, read on to learn all about the band and why you need to make sure that you’re there to watch them play….
You’re playing at the Burn It Down Festival in Torquay on August 31st, tell us a bit about your band and why people should come and see you play
We play loud, fast, punk n’ roll music that will put a spring in your step for the foreseeable future. You should come see us because we might just be the jaded, mutated blues that you're looking for in your life. Other than that we are obviously the best band there, and all 6 people that will watch us can attest to that!
Burn it Down is a festival but not in the traditional sense, you WON’T be stood in a muddy field somewhere getting rained on, did this thought cross your mind when you agreed to be a part of it?
Not at all. I mean don't get me wrong, I love being stood in a field playing songs to wasted, hard partying, music lovers. I love our lack of organisation trying to find the stage we are playing or just the general chaos at a festival, but that's not to say these types of festivals aren't cool too. We have played a lot of these sorts of shows where the whole thing is spread over different venues and stuff and they have always been a lot of fun. Definitely a different vibe though. Marcus and I actually did a bit of coverage for Blank TV last year and it was great! Burn It Down really came out of the gates strong on their first festival so I'm excited to see them top it this year. I mean, they got BASEMENT and BLACK PEAKS for Christ sake!!
Could you describe a typical live show (if there is such a thing?) what can the audience expect from you?
Well... I'll sweat on everyone a lot. I will accidentally stand on Larry's peddle board a bunch (Sorry in advance mate) and I'll probably keep reminding everyone that they are watching the greatest band in the world! We do really get into what we do as do the people at a lot of our shows so crowd-surfing and stage-diving is always encouraged, just obviously...don't be a dick. Nobody likes a crowd killer..... I like getting in amongst people a lot too. If people aren't moving I'll just start it myself but generally speaking if you come to a show you’re gonna get involved. My rule of thumb is you can still have one of the best shows of your life as long as there are enough people to catch you!
The festival is taking place in Torquay which is also referred to as ‘The English Riviera’, have you ever played in Torquay before? If so, where did you play, if not, what are you most looking forward to doing whilst you’re in Torquay?
Yeah I think we have only ever played Torquay once, it was a Boneyard show at the Apple and Parrot earlier this year with Disgraceland. Before that, when we were in old bands we used to play this little pub called Ryan's bar. It was this Irish bar the for whatever reason had a luau (Hawaiian) themed room upstairs where bands would play. They were fun times. Not so much good shows but fun times! I think it’s still there actually. I remember there was also a pretty good scene surrounding a venue called the 27 Club. Crooked never played it but a lot of our friends in hardcore bands did. Crooked originate from Exeter so we have all visited Torquay a fair few times before. We will probably be checking out the bands mainly but for anyone taking the train in, you'll enjoy the walk from the station to the venue(s) plus there's always the standard seaside checklist you can do while you walk. Stare at nice boats, get an ice cream, grab a drink in Wetherspoons. The whole 9 yards!
There are some AMAZING bands performing at the festival, which ones are you looking forward to checking out whilst you’re there?
Well obviously headliners BASEMENT, not just because they're a great band but also because its nuts that they're coming to Torquay of all places! That's almost as mad as SUM 41 playing Exeter the month before! We saw them at 2000 Trees festival last year but this is gonna be a way more intimate setting. I’ve been getting into BLACK PEAKS more and more recently and our drummer Lee is stoked on them so we will definitely be checking those guys out. HAGGARD CAT are 100% on the list for us and I think LOATHE and PHOXJAW are probably going to be on our itineraries too. And of course we will be supporting our pals in PATRONS, THE EXPERIMENTAL and HYPOPHORA. Oh and I'm pretty curious to see STREET SOLDIER......
Have you any new music due out soon? If so, please tell us about it
Well we are indeed sitting on a new single at the moment that will be out soon. I can't say much more about it other than it SHOULD of had a release date by now but we had to push it back a little and that it is one of my favourite songs to play live. We have a bunch of songs written too but again I really can't say much more than that. Partly because we want to keep it all under wraps and partly because we are still figuring some stuff out, but rest assured....The Crooked Little Sons are sitting on something loud!

Wow only 3! haha ummmmm, Well, all four of us have a plethora of bands we could add here, but for me I'd say.... PUP, IDLES and THE HIVES. They (The Hives) put out a new song the other day so fingers crossed for a new record this year! now quick, next question, I already want to put more bands on that list…..
Where can keep up to date with you (social media/website etc)
Like most bands you can keep up to date on sites like Facebook or Instagram. Those are the two we use the most. As for our music you can hear us Spotify, Apple Music and I think pretty much every streaming site available. (So add us to your downloads fuckers!) but like most bands we encourage you to come to a show and actually grab a record. I know it’s an appreciation that's dying out but there are still people into buying physical music and having something (dare I say it....) 'real'.
I think you truly get the band a little more when you do that as appose to just keeping your brain stimulated for a bit while you skip through your library.
