We checked out GREG BUZZER'S latest single 'Knight', see what we thought....
Before Israel based Greg Buzzer's music came into my life, I would never have put the terms 'Medieval' and '80's-style electro' into the same sentence - nor would I have thought it could exist beyond my uncle's old computer games. In his track, 'Knight' (also the title of the album), Buzzer has created a sound that is all-encompassing and regal, ominous and triumphant... while also being strangely upbeat with its sci-fi, techno stylings. This, my friends, is as close as you can get to charging into battle from the comfort of your armchair.
Layered, distorted vocals give the song a demanding, near-inhuman presence, while a bass drum is kicked to the rhythm of a heartbeat. "I will invade your dreams," sings Buzzer, "I'll break your castles of sand." A slow build up leads to his claim, "All you know is a lie/no more you have to pretend", followed by a break in the music. The electronic backbone of the song comes to the foreground before Buzzer claims, "I'll face the dragons of emptiness" - at which point the track dives into trumpets and a slow, heavy melody.
Originally the frontman of stoner-rock trio BuZZer, Greg Buzzer went on to form this interesting, eclectic style. The album promises 'polyphonic chanting' and other legendary delights - and if 'Knight' is just the beginning, then I'm sure those looking for a journey that is both ancient and futuristic won't be disappointed.
