Catch him on the NME TOUR supporting BLOSSOMS and CABBAGE in March

The formidable and naturalistic STORNOWAY returned to Exeter Phoenix on March 2nd for what was officially the last time. Into the final few dates of their farewell tour after a stellar and critically acclaimed 10 years, they took to the stage with their blend of indie folk pop, to the delight and despair of an adoring audience. With their familiar air of unassuming cult status and peerless musicianship the 90 mins set left no-one in doubt, this was a night to retell down the generations.

We chatted to a fantastic singer songwriter called Ben McKelvey last year in Plymouth when he supported Wet Wet Wet on their UK arena tour, a whole year had passed and he was back in Plymouth supporting Mike and the Mechanics on their 32 date UK tour, we caught up with Ben in his dressing room a few hours before the show….

Monday night gigs are becoming commonplace for me, the last few I attended (Amber Run in Exeter, Deaf Havana in Bristol) were sold out affairs, I was hoping that this one would be the same. As we arrived at Plymouth Pavilions to see Kaiser Chiefs, it didn’t take long to realise that it was another full house, read on to see how the evening unfolded.

ALICE JEMIMA is a Devon based beat-smith who has been turning people onto her sultry blend of electronic beats and breathy vocals for some time. She'll be releasing her eponymous debut album on March 3rd and we were asked to take a listen, read on to see what we thought.

Following the success of their latest album All These Countless Nights, we were invited along to the O2 Academy in Bristol to catch UK alt-pop-rockers Deaf Havana on the UK leg of their European tour, read on to see how the evening unfolded.

The intimate setting of the Exeter Phoenix is ideally suited to an evening of soul/blues and tonight the venue was packed to the rafters and the atmosphere was electric. The support band was Broken Witt Rebels, they played a varied 40 minute set. Hailing from Birmingham (West Midlands) their sound would lead you to think that they were actually from Birmingham (Alabama).....
