In just 18 months, punchy Bristolian sloganeers IDLES have ferreted their way through current consciousness with a never-ending stream of jaw-dropping, ear-bleeding shows in small venues without so much as a by-your-leave or a back catalogue to speak of. It's like the internet doesn't exist for bands like this, hard-slogging outfits with a message and a melody and a bit of gumption, the likes of which we haven't seen since Drenge, Fucked Up, Sleaford Mods or UK Subs. Years of pitching up to venues right across the UK and acknowledging their fans' existence is finally bearing fruit, as this second album ably demonstrates.

On February 21st 2012, as a protest against Putin’s re-election, five women entered Moscow’s Cathedral of Christ the Saviour and, pulling on coloured balaclavas, bounded around the church’s altar, punching the air and imitating prayer. Using the melody of ‘Ave Maria’ they performed their punk prayer, urging the Virgin Mary to help get rid of Putin… These women were members of Pussy Riot and their actions on this day and the consequences of those actions, would put them smack bang into the annuls of history.

LOOE MUSIC FESTIVAL takes place over the weekend of 21st - 23rd September and features some incredible acts. We wanted to showcase some of the acts on the bill and have compiled a video feature to get you in the mood for what is shaping up to be a wonderful weekend of live music, let's hope the sun will have it's hat on!

Set for the Main Stage at Reading & Leeds Festivals this weekend, Dinosaur Pile-Up have just announced their biggest UK headline tour to date. Following their recent SOLD OUT UK headline tour, the run of seven dates kicks off on 23rd November culminating with a show at London’s Electric Ballroom on 1st December. Tickets go on sale Tuesday 28th August at 10am.

On Saturday 8th September, Exeter Phoenix will be hosting a full evening of entertainment to raise money for Musicians Against Homelessness.

All of the money raised on the night will be supporting Crisis UK who are a national charity for homeless people. They help people directly out of homelessness and campaign for the changes needed to solve it altogether.

We're so excited about this, we decided to create a video feature of all acts confirmed to play at the event so far.

With a stellar line-up consisting of The Hives, Manic Street Preachers, Suzanne Vega, Calexico, Richard Thompson and of course, Levellers, this year’s Beautiful Days Festival looked like it was going to be a fantastic affair, all we needed was some good weather! We first saw Kitty, Daisy & Lewis when they played in Exeter a couple of years ago, we instantly fell in love with their music and their live show is a sight to behold. We saw that they were booked to play at Beautiful Days Festival and thought it was about time we had a quick chat to see what they've been up to lately. We caught up with Daisy Durham to chat about babies, new material and what it is they love about festivals....

We'd heard lots about a Norwich based four piece punk rock band called Ducking Punches but have never had the pleasure of seeing them live. We heard (via Lorna from Skinny Lister) that they were playing at this year's Beautiful Days Festival and thought we'd best have a chat to see what all the fuss is about. We caught up with Dan from the band to chat about his best festival survival tips, what to expect from their live show and WHY you should do your utmost to catch them when they play at Beautiful Days....

We were fortunate enough to catch Vintage Trouble play at The Phoenix in Exeter last year and the looks on our faces were a picture when we saw that they were returning to Exeter to play at Beautiful Days Festival in August. We never got time to chat to the guys after the Phoenix show so we thought it would be a great chance to do so ahead of their main stage performance next weekend. We chatted to the whole band and discussed their love of festivals, how they are received all over the world and the most important thing, how to get rid of that hangover the morning after the night before, here's how we got on....

We first saw (and fell in love with) this amazingly talented London based pop-rock duo at Chagstock Festival in 2016. Since then we caught them again at Beautiful Days when they invited about 100 kids onto the bandstand to join them for their last song (that was fun!). As it has been a couple of years since we last caught up with them, we thought it was about time we sat down and had a chat with Shauna and Collette from REWS about festivals, survival tips and exactly what they think about UK based music festivals....

London is in the midst of a heat wave, and Sly & The Family Stone had no compunction about turning the temperature up a few more degrees with their funk and groove back catalogue. The songs are over half a century old, hailing from the wild social revolutions of the sixties, yet with their pulsating rhythms, energetic musicianship and sense of fun, they still speak directly to an audience.

Mr.B the Gentleman Rhymer began his 'Chap-Hop' career in the summer of 2007 when he decided to bring elements of his previous incarnations (UK rapper, jump-up breaks producer, banjolele maverick and dandy) together and create a genre. We've been fortunate enough to catch him live a number of times at various festivals and after reading that the he was booked to play at Beautiful Days Festival, we thought it was time for a chat to learn a little bit more about what makes him tick...

Dreadzone are an amazing live band and to see that they are gracing the main stage at this year's Beautiful Days Festival bought a HUGE smile to our faces! We chatted to MC Spee about what festivals mean to him, his top tips to getting the most out of a three day music festival and the all important hangover cure!

After watching New Model Army perform a blistering set at last year's Beautiful Days Festival, we were excited to see that Justin Sullivan was appearing at this years event playing a solo set.
