We caught up with Scottish hardcore quartet RAZOR SHARP DEATH BLIZZARD to chat about life, love and everything in-between.

September 8, 2020

After a few months of no live music, festivals or musical gatherings, I was starting to lose faith in the industry. Granted, there’s gonna be a massive surge of releases over the next few months and whilst I’m looking forward to that, I only hope that the content of these releases hasn’t been marred by the general feeling of despair driven by the COVID-19 pandemic.

I needed a boost, a lift, a general kick up the ‘arris’ to get me back into the swing of things and this came to me recently via.a Scottish hardcore/metal/filth quartet called Razor Sharp Death Blizzard. They released their latest long player The World is Fucked and after hearing it, I wanted to chat to the guys and find out a bit more about what makes them tick. We got together and put all our cards on the table, we chatted to vocalist Jamie Clark about lockdown hobbies, touring Europe in a very small car and why he prefers regular gigs over festivals….

During this period of profound uncertainty, it helps indeed to be reminded that indie pop anthems can still provide some troubled souls with a sense of calm and simple pleasure. SEA GIRLS are in your corner, forging elements of Bastille with brightly formed architecture, reflecting an ambition to erect big banners across the horizon that gently hug and smile with the legend ‘rejoice in the now and be ready to embrace tomorrow’.

August 28, 2020

This, the fourth in a sequence of releases heralding their third studio album ULTRA MONO this little beauty pulls handily on the choke chain and injects some much-needed punk spirit into our communally-deflated summer. Mine’s a triple Jagermeister with bitter lemon.

Former Leicestershire nice lads YOUNG KNIVES unleash their primal side with unsettling fifth LP - read our review....

July 27, 2020

How some people change. When Leicester indie-rockers Young Knives first came to the public's attention, they were somewhat smart. Preppy. Ties, slacks and tweed were not uncommon. A meaner person might say they were odd-balls. Whatever, the starched collars-and-slicked-hair-office-worker look they presented around the time of 2006's debut album 'Voices of Animals and Men' is now out the window, as is the sound they embraced on their four previous studio albums. Taking a look at brothers Henry (or his stage alias "House of Lords") and Thomas Dartnall these days requires the obligatory double-glance. With his long, grungey hair and beard, Thomas looks like the survivor of a particularly rough nuclear apocalypse. He and his brother wear the expressions of men who have seen things. Things no man should see.
