Take a moment to think about bands that have suffered from DSAS (Difficult Second Album Syndrome), bands where their debut releases were so strong, it would take a juggernaut to even match the success it garnered. Bands such as Stone Roses transformed the sonic landscape with their self-titled offering back in 1989 but fell WAY short of the mark with ‘Second Coming’ in 1994, one wonders if they had simply missed the boat with a 5 year hiatus between releases. Guns n’ Roses hit the nail on the head in 1987 with Appetite for Destruction which remains one of my all time favourite albums to date, hang on 4 years until the release of Use Your Illusion I & II and the story was somewhat different. I could go on but you get the gist. Would Devon based blues rockers MORIATY go down the same route with their sophomore release The Die is Cast, read on to find out….

“a dose of climactic, slow-burning indie rock” - Brooklyn Vegan

“it’s as if she were recording an audio book for a memoir she’s yet to have written” - Jezebel

‘Stunning… Endless layers of dreamy, melodic bliss” - BBC Introducing

‘The Torquay-based five-piece have a knack for dreamy beach pop with a sinister edge, Cut and Run merging a patchwork style with giant, sky-reaching guitar lines and arty intentions’ - DIY Magazine

A couple of months back, my wife was sat in a bar in Totnes chatting with some friends and one of them introduced her niece’s partner and mentioned that he was in a band. To make things even stranger, he lived in Nuneaton which also happens to be my birth town. After a few drinks, she finally fell through the door and told me all about her chance encounter. I made contact with Joseph Ellis and had a good chat with him on the telephone and we agreed to do an interview for the site. Well, I’m glad to say that we managed to get it together so please read on to see how we got on….

Swedish rock trio Wolver presents us with “101”, the second single building up to their debut album. The energetic banger portrays satirical meta-commentary on being a rock band and following your dreams in this day and age, with memorable riffs in a style reminiscent of The Black Keys and certain production hints of Muse.
