It’s been a really busy Autumn so far with the camera, but this was something I had been looking forward to for a good few months. With Ireland still closed for business with regards to indoor gigs (Saturday 16th October marks the relaxing of these restrictions) a little mini tour in England gave a great opportunity to dust off the flight cases.

October 29th sees the first date of a UK tour where THE LITTLE UNSAID will be showcasing tracks from their latest long player Lick The Future’s Lips as well as from their buoyant back catalogue. The tour consists of 11 dates and sees them visiting some delightful venues all over England. It starts off in West Yorkshire before heading to Merseyside, Sheffield, London, Winchester, Bridport, Totnes, Nottingham, Birmingham, Corsham before playing their final gig on November 12th in Bath. London-based artist Larry Mindel has returned with a magical new single 'Okarito Ways'. With echoes of jazz and folk combined, this is a real sonic treat, building on the formidable relationship he has with Italian producer Teo Galesi. Beyond that though, this song is a call-to-action appealing to the best instincts of every listener.

After a year of developing her debut EP, Southern Californian-born Alix Page shares the powerful new single & music video, “25”; a sun-kissed and romanticised forecast with a past lover, imagining where she’ll run into him and what she’ll say. Written by Page and produced by Brett Kramer of Half Alive, the track is released today, 12th October.

Shane co-wrote each of the cohesive 15-song set, painting a sonic “bigger picture” of not just himself, but life in small-town America – it’s just as gritty as it is graceful. The album tells the story of Shane’s life journey; full of backroad turns, straightaways and backslides, with each song revealing different chapters and sounds as distinctive as its maker.

Founding DMW member Kirk Brandon (Spear of Destiny/Theatre of Hate) will once again be joined by heralded rhythm section Segs and Ruffy from The Ruts on acoustic bass, percussion & vocals, and completing the line up will be Jake Burns, legendary frontman of Stiff Little Fingers, who will bring his guitar, songs and stories.

London rockers OPENSIGHT have completed a new video for their cover of “Thunderball”, just in time for the new James Bond film “No Time To Die”. The track, which is set to feature on their upcoming album ‘Mondo Fiction’ which is set for release in early 2022. The album was produced by frontman Ivan Amaya and was mixed and mastered by Will Maya (The Answer, Breed 77, The Heretic Order, Panic Cell, The Morage, Adrian Smith).

Squid are a quintet made up of Ollie Judge (lead vocals, drums), Louis Borlase (guitar, bass guitar, vocals), Arthur Leadbetter (keyboards, strings, percussion), Laurie Nankivell – (bass guitar, brass, percussion) & Anton Pearson (guitar, bass, vocals, percussion), their style is something else but draws heavily on a blend of Post-Punk, Krautrock and New Wave, I like to refer to it as ‘Post-Kraut-Wave’, I might see if they’d like to use that in their future promotional material….

In preparation for their winter tour of the UK, musomuso caught up with Dr Alex Paterson, the driving force behind ambient electronic outfit The Orb, to discuss - amongst other things - the early success of the group, the process of songwriting and sampling, their plethora of remixes, what songs he'd love to play on the upcoming live dates and what the future holds for "Dr. Alex" and friends.
