We received news of Mark Nevin's new album 'While The Kingdom Crumbles' which is set to be released on April 22nd, you'll probably remember him from his time in Fairground Attraction and also his work with Morrissey, Kirsty MacColl and Sandie Shaw.

Another playlist closer to the magic 50 but lets not wait for that, lets celebrate the incredible talent that have been lucky enough to make it onto #49!

I have been scouring the tracks over at musosoup.com where I am fortunate enough to locate about 90% of the acts that get added to the playlists and there is certainly no shortage of amazing acts out there that deserve 5 minutes of your hard earned time.

We had entries in from all over the world and the content is a proper mixed bag, dare I say ‘something for everyone’, I think as long as you love discovering new music, then there really is something for you!

It’s finally Friday, I’m a few days behind with my playlist schedule but it can’t be helped as I’ve been all over the place this week, I can only do my best to get them out on time!

I’ve spent a couple of days in Bristol this week working which was fun, I managed to find a great Lebanese restaurant which I will most definitely be returning to the next time I am on a stopover!

For this playlist, I have added 9 super talented bands and artists to the list, they come from all over the place so expect the unexpected!

To celebrate his latest album, Jack embarked on a 12 date UK tour which kicked off at the Plymouth Pavilions and finishes up at London’s Eventim Apollo.

It was on this tour that we sent two of our newest recruits to the O2 Academy in Newcastle to catch Jack’s live show, would it be awash with middle aged ladies all trying their best to launch their panties onto the stage (a la Tom Jones) or would it be more of a wholesome night of entertainment? Read on to find out….

Colchester based punk band Pet Needs have had a whirlwind 12 months or so following the release of their first LP ‘Fractured Music Party’ on Xtramile recordings, produced by record company stable mate, Frank Turner. The album is a belter and having seen them supporting Frank at his end of lockdown (mid lockdown as it turned out) ‘The Gathering’ roadshow I couldn't wait to see them in a more suitable environment, a small sweaty venue with a very passionate crowd.

After hearing that Portland, Oregon musician Jesse Carsten (aka Half Shadow) was due to release his 3rd studio album (At Home With My Candles) on April 8th, we wanted to get in touch and chat to him about the making of the album and exactly what went into it. Whilst we were there, we also asked him about his early musical memories, first live gig that he attended, influences and his dream festival lineup. For al of this and much more, read on….

I don’t think I have any live shows pencilled in this week which is a good thing as I have been very busy covering the IDLES show in Cardiff last week, Cory Wong the week before in Bristol and most recently, the awesome Alabama 3 in Exeter, it’ll be nice to have a few days off to catch up on loose ends!

This playlist is full of great new tracks from 9 bands and artists but I only have 1 featured artist to tell you about so please take some time to learn more about her and give her a follow on the socials if you like what you hear.

This playlist is again, very strong, I know that I say that a lot but the calibre of music that I am receiving for the playlists is literally getting better and better every time, it’s amazing what you can produce in a decent studio in half day these days!

Brooklyn based post punk outfit Savak release their latest album on April 15th, a follow up to their 2020 album Rotting Teeth in The Horse’s Mouth. This release feels a little slicker, with the guitar heavy tunes mixed with subtler backing and a continuation of the deep, haunting vocals seen on past releases.

With gigs and festivals starting to hot up, we wanted to tell you about a couple of very special gigs that are happening at The Wharf in Tavistock and The Brewhouse at Taunton next week.

The show was just as tidy, energetic and funky as you'd expect. Cory himself was on fine form, mixing choppy rhythms and screaming solos on plenty of fast-paced numbers with some more tender moments on slower songs ('Meditation' for example was an ethereal experience for the crowd) which gave the room a chance to get their breath back after the faster paced numbers. If this music was something that you were cycling along to on a ‘Peloton’ (other static home and gym based exercise bicycle devices are available) you’d either be very very fit or very dead after suffering a major coronary.

After a short break to relive bladders and clear the stage for the main act, the lights dipped, up went a roar from the crowd and everyone’s fave boy band from Bristol took to the stage for what would be a mammoth career spanning 2 hour set, like a roller coaster, there will be highs and lows, you will give love and be loved by the band and the mass that had congregated at this sonic temple to witness their heroes in action.

Playlist #40 was VERY strong, I hope you will find #41 as good as there is again, a mixed bag of goodies for you to get involved with.
