Tell the world about yourself?
I'm a young at heart guy, in my early forties (though don't look a day over 39), husband, father to two kids and two dogs with a passion for new music (me, not the dogs - they don't care about anything other than food, walks and sniffing other dogs arses). I used to edit the music section of a Torbay based entertainment guide some years ago, since then, I have successfully setup musicmuso.com and continue to manage it on a daily basis with the assistance of some amazing people.
Where you live?
I live in the deepest darkest depths of the South Hams (not far from Totnes).
What you do for musicmuso.com
I like to think that I keep the lights on, arrange all the news articles, organise gig reviews, new music reviews, interview features, meet with PR companies all over the UK to discuss new ventures etc. I would not be able to do this without the support I receive from the rest of the team.
How did you come to being a contributor on the site?
See above....
Hobbies & Interests?
Listening to and identifying quality new worldwide talent, attending gigs (normally in the capacity of a reviewer), parties, LEGO, playing XBOX (very occasionally), guitars and dog walks.
Three words to describe you?
Helpful, Trustworthy, Reliable.
Favourite artist/band?
I hate this question, I know it's one that we use in the 'Introducing' section all the time but even so..... I listen to a LOT of music, some stays with me, some doesn't, I am simply not able to pinpoint one favourite act as I think it much depends on my mood I am in at the time of the selection. I am currently listening to newish acts like First Aid Kit, Kyla La Grange, Lana Del Rey and a plethora of female fronted 3 piece acts such as CHVRCHES, London Grammar & Meadowlark. As for the old favourites, well there's nothing better than a mixtape consisting of some classics by The Wonder Stuff, Teenage Fanclub, MUSE, Led Zeppelin, The Stones, SNUFF, Morrissey and R.E.M. - Does that answer the question?
Likes?
People who stay true to their word, chatting to people about music, chatting to musicians about music, vinyl records, valve amps, good teeth, dog walks, things my kids say, BBQ's (as long as I am chef!)
Dislikes?
People who don't stay true to their word, when people think that to like a new band is so uncool (hipster alert!), pretentiousness, over inflated ego's, loud people, rudeness, Talentless wannabe Z List 'celebrities' like Joey Essex/Anyone from Made in Chelsea, wankers the lot of 'em.
Most treasured possession?
I guess I should be saying something like my health and the fact that I am blessed with 2 healthy children and a loving wife that support me in all ventures that I undertake but on this occasion, I'm gonna have to go with my LINN Sondek LP12 Turntable (the holy grail of turntables).
What will be written on your tombstone? (assuming I get buried!)
Remembered for helping musicians to get a foothold on the ladder to success, a great father and husband and a truly remarkable friend to those who were fortunate enough to meet him.....or something!
Biggest achievement to date?
I think it has to be passing my cycling proficiency test when I was 8 years old. I think passing any test or exam is a big achievement, if I had to say something serious, I guess the fact that we (my wife and I) have managed to bring up 2 healthy, polite and friendly kids is the biggest achievement, that and the website of course!
Three things that are still on your bucket list?
Attending SXSW with an 'access all areas' pass, Travelling America with the family in a great big 4x4 burning gas whilst sucking down cheeseburgers, Building my dream HIFI setup.
