“Unprecedented response to this…Absolutely gorgeous” Janice Long BBC Radio 2
Kathryn Williams returns with her 10th studio album, Crown Electric on 30th September, previewed by exquisite first single Heart Shaped Stone (out now).
Kathryn Williams video for brand new single ‘Heart Shaped Stone’, premiered today as ‘Track of The Day’ on Clash.com.
Written with long-time musical foil Neill MacColl, while looking out over Brighton Beach, Heart Shaped Stonecontrasts romantic idealism with the reality of making a relationship work. “A lot of what I do is about the idea of a relationship and how reality impacts on that,” Kathryn says. “Like the idea of a happy ending. The princess marries the prince but carry that story on 15 years…”
Crown Electric is a suitably emphatic title for Williams’ most potent album yet, confirmation and summation of the songwriting skills she’s been honing since 1999’s Dog Leap Stairs. “As soon as I said it, the words in my mouth felt lovely,” says Kathryn. “It felt exciting and fresh but it also had the sound of a classic album. It has strength to it. It’s steadfast.” From the first song to the last, her lyrics have never been more astute, her melodies more memorable nor her arrangements more beautiful.
Kathryn Williams also announced extra November UK dates that will conclude with a headlining show at Union Chapel
