B of Briz is a Bristol rapper and producer blending bass‑heavy alternative hip hop with sharp, feminist energy. Influenced by trip hop, dub, DnB, Little Simz, Kae Tempest and The Streets, she’s been championed by BBC 6 Music and released her debut album An Encyclopedia of Patriarchy (incomplete) last year. She dropped new singles throughout 2025 ahead of her Solace EP. For tons more info on this fab artist.
We invited her to take part in our 5 FROM 25 feature where she shares 5 ‘things’ from 2025 that helped to get her through the year, read on to learn more.
1. The biggest highlight of 2025 for me was releasing my EP ‘Solace’. I really wanted to make a record that met our moment in some meaningful way. And I looked around and could feel this deep sense of grief – grief that suffering and cruelty seem to be increasing. And grief for a future that we thought we could create, where we treat each other with compassion and create systems and institutions that support and embody that compassion. It’s still full of hope, but the only way to truly have hope is to acknowledge how sh*t everything is.
2. Nat Oaks’ music- Nat’s one of my absolute favourite emerging artists in the UK at the mo. I was lucky enough to see her perform at The Gallimaufry in Bristol last year, after becoming almost obsessed with her 2023 banger ‘Hard to Forget’ - such an amazing evening! She released some brilliant tracks this year, including ‘The Way you Want me’. Nat’s a one-off, and I really hope she finds her audience – I’m sure it’s huge and out there! She came second in the Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition this year, so hopefully that means everyone will b hearing some of her music soon!
3. I was really lucky to collaborate with an amazing contemporary UK artist – Jess, at Twigs & Antlers - for the artwork for my EP ‘Solace’. She’s such a lovely human, and a playful and thoughtful artist, and working with her was such a joy. One of the most enjoyable parts of my journey sharing my music publicly has been the visual elements – I’ve worked with wonderful women artists for my music artwork, commissioning my mask, and most of my photography – so much fun, in ways I could never have anticipated!
4. Sophie Hunter’s music – Sophie’s music has continued to give me some true delight this year! I first discovered her via her viral song ‘Cvnt’ – an instant classic of the 2020s in my opinion. Sophie’s got that combo of vulnerability/ relatability on the one hand, and massive charisma and swagger on the other, that’s totally appealing to me. “That is not the head of your household, b*tch that man has CTE” – Sophie Hunter - ‘2 shots of patron’, 2025
5. I’m really proud of the music I’ve been making in the last part of 2025. It’s way more angry than a lot of my work so far – I’m making an antifascist album, so that makes sense! I think if you’re not angry, you’re not paying enough attention. Anger is such an important emotion – it’s so often portrayed as ‘negative’ but it isn’t – anger is a necessary part of our response to injustice. I’m so excited about sharing it in 2026!
