DMA’S announce self‑titled album and drop ferocious new single “Heatin Park”

April 28, 2026

Ten years into their career, DMA’S are hitting the reset button — loudly, proudly, and with the kind of swagger that only comes from a band who know exactly who they are. The Australian trio have announced that their new self‑titled album DMA’S will land on August 7, marking a defining moment in their evolution and a bold statement of intent.

The first taste of that new era arrives with “Heatin Park”, a snarling, stadium‑sized single that crashes together old demos, new ideas and a feral, fuzz‑drenched energy. Guitarist Matt Mason describes it as “an old forgotten demo banged into a new sound for us,” adding that the album carries their name because “that’s exactly what it is.”

Recorded between the band’s own studio in Glebe, Sydney and sessions in LA, the album sees DMA’S expanding their anthemic DNA with fresh textures and a more adventurous sonic palette. Much of the record was co‑produced with Grammy‑nominated Lach Bostock (Mansionair), alongside contributions from Jimi Somewhere and Styalz Fuego — a team that pushes the trio into some of their most ambitious territory yet.

“Heatin Park” itself is a sharp left turn from March’s melodic single “My Baby’s Place”, which hit #1 most‑played on triple j. Where that track shimmered, this one snarls: MBV‑leaning guitars, distorted vocals, and a sense that DMA’S are stretching their sound as far as it will go. The accompanying video — shot across the UK and Melbourne — captures that same restless energy.

Of course, DMA’S have never been a band confined to the studio. Their reputation for electrifying live shows has taken them to Glastonbury, Coachella, Lollapalooza and Splendour in the Grass, and they’ll bring the new album home to Australia later this year. The headline tour kicks off November 27 in Brisbane, hits Melbourne the following night, and culminates in a huge hometown show at the Sydney Opera House Forecourt on December 3.

Fans who missed the sold‑out Hills End anniversary show in Sydney earlier this year get a second chance: each date will feature a special Hills End set alongside new material and the cult favourites that have cemented DMA’S as one of Australia’s most beloved modern bands.

It’s a fitting celebration for a group whose catalogue has already racked up 500 million streams, four multi‑platinum singles, a 2023 ARIA Award for Best Group, and an impressive 13 entries in triple j’s Hottest 100 — including their iconic Like A Version cover of Cher’s “Believe,” which topped the Hottest 100 Like A Versions of All Time.

With DMA’S, Johnny Took, Matt Mason and Tommy O’Dell aren’t just releasing another album — they’re marking a new chapter. One that looks back, pushes forward, and reminds everyone why they’ve become such a vital force in modern guitar music.
