EDITORS return with new single “Call It In” and announce ambitious 2027 UK/EU tour

April 28, 2026

Editors have never been a band to sit still, and their new single Call It In arrives as proof that evolution remains their defining instinct. It’s their first new music since 2022’s EBM, emerging from sessions squeezed between Tom Smith’s debut solo album and the band’s ongoing live commitments, a reminder that even two decades in, they’re still finding new corners of their sound to explore.

Written during a stretch of summer 2025 spent tucked away in rural Gloucestershire, Call It In captures the band working in a more traditional, all‑in‑a‑room setup. The result is a track that feels immediate yet introspective. “It’s a song about asking for help, really, in the presence of an existential dread,” Smith explains. “Finding solace and comfort in someone close, escaping the deafening noise of modern life.”

The single lands via Play It Again Sam and arrives with a video directed by guitarist Justin Lockey, a continuation of the band’s long‑running habit of keeping their creative world tightly in‑house.

Editors’ return isn’t limited to new music. Alongside a run of European festivals this summer, including Pinkpop, Cactus Festival, Splendour and Brighton’s On The Beach, the band will also help open a brand‑new venue at Villa Park in Birmingham.

They’ve now confirmed a full UK, Ireland and EU headline tour for early 2027, marking their most extensive run in years. Dates include major stops at O2 Academy Brixton, Rock City, Vicar Street, Columbiahalle and more, with tickets going on sale at 11am local time in Europe on Thursday 30 April and 10am in the UK on Friday 1 May.

Formed in 2002 at university in Birmingham, Editors have built one of the most consistently evolving catalogues in modern British guitar music. All seven of their studio albums have reached the UK Top 10, with An End Has A Start (2007) and In This Light and On This Evening (2009) both hitting Number 1. Their Mercury‑nominated debut The Back Room remains a touchstone of mid‑2000s indie, while later records like In Dream and Violence showcased their shift into darker, electronic territory. Across two decades, they’ve never been afraid to change shape, and Call It In feels like the opening line of their next chapter.
