Elevation Falls are a 5 piece Dublin based rock/blues band who count Thin Lizzy, Alter Bridge, Halestorm and Nirvana amongst their influences. They recently featured in Classic Rock Magazine as a 'Track of the Week' contender and are riding high after the release of their latest album What Will Be

We wanted to learn more about the band so hooked up with Hazel Jade, Chris Young and Darragh Shields to find out more, here's how we got on....

Great to meet you! Please introduce yourself to our readers!

Hazel Jade: I am Hazel Jade, lead singer from Elevation Falls.

Chris Young: I'm Crispy, lead guitarist of Elevation Falls.

Darragh Shields: I'm Darragh Shields, lead guitar in Elevation Falls.

How long have you been playing?

HJ: I’ve been singing since I was three, but have also been playing drums since I was 3, piano since I was 5 and guitar since I was 12.

CY: I have been playing about 8 years.

DS: Since I was a sprog

Do you remember the record that made you want to pick up an instrument?

HJ: It was never one record. Both my parents where musical, so naturally I listened to so much music as a child. One of the first rock bands I did hear was probably Guns N Roses.

CY: Yes Live and Dangerous Thin Lizzy, what an album.

DS: Thin Lizzy, One Night Only

Given the choice, who is your dream producer?

HJ: One might be Nick Raskulinecz, who produced such bands as Halestorm and Alice in Chains... And the other one would be Michael Baskette, who produced bands such as, Alter Bridge, Tremonti, and Slash

DS: John Mayer

If you had to pick your dream line up, who would it feature?

HJ: Slash, Myles Kennedy, Duff Mckagan, and the rest I do not mind.

CY: Me on guitar Darragh Shields on second guitar hazel jade on vocals Gabriel Brazil on bass and Alex the Spanish man on drums.

DS: Richie Kotzen, John Sykes, Glenn Hughes, Mike Portnoy, Billy Sheehan

When was the last time a piece of art shocked you, and what was it?

HJ: Art doesn’t really shock me haha

CY: Last week a painting walked up behind me and scared me shitless.

DS: The Richie Kotzen telecaster, at 9.40am this morning

Can you pick out a song that has a different meaning to you now opposed to when you first wrote it?

HJ: To be honest no. When I write a song, it is usually because of an experience I am going through at the time. My feelings towards the experiences do not change.

CY: I always change my mind on what our song 'Take Me Back' is about but as long as you can make sense of it in your head that's what matters.

DS: What Will Be

When it comes to playing live, do you find it easy to get lost in the moment or do you become very self-aware?

HJ: When I started performing with the band when I was 16, I was very self conscious, but now I find when I’m on stage I forget who I am and just enjoy myself to the fullest. People have said to me I act like a completely different person on stage to how I act off stage.

CY: I get so lost into playing guitar and messing with people in the crowd I just couldn't care about what people think and that's what makes for a good show.

DS: I find myself in a perfect balance of both

Could you envision yourself working in a different artistic medium, and if so, what would it be?

HJ: I would say no, but I do have a talent for film making, art and radio, but music is my true passion.

CY: No, music is where I belong.

DS: I don’t really think so

Pick two out of four; if you had to select a film, an album, a piece of art or a book that had an impact on you, what were they?

HJ: I genuinely can’t answer this question. Since I was born, films have always meant a lot to me. You forget about the world you live in and fall into a completely new world every time. I love film overall and I feel the exact same about music. There was never one point in my life or one movie or one song that completely changed me suddenly but there where many moments that a song or a film meant everything to me in that stage of my life.

CY: Movie: Resident Evil.....killing the zombies made a massive impact in my trousers. Album: Live and Dangerous, Scott Gorham's guitar tone with Phill Lynnots playing and voice it was just a massive game changer for me.

DS: 1987 album by Whitesnake
