We caught up with Nottingham based dystopian metal band DEATHFLUX for a chat about the early days of the band, influences and their debut album which has received rave reviews across the board, here's how we got on....
Who started the band, where and when?
Tom Clarke (Guitars): The band was started by myself and our old vocalist Patrick Macdonald in January of 2016. It started off as a studio project but we liked the songs we had written that much, that we started recruiting other people to join so we could take the band live.
Who plays in the band now and what do they play?
TC: The current line-up includes me (Tom Clarke) on guitars, Tom Else also on guitars, Jake Bennett on bass and Adam Jones on drums and vocals.
Who has inspired you over the years?
TC: I’m inspired by many different bands and artists of differing genres but for metal this would mainly be Morbid Angel and Meshuggah. I’m also inspired by many different producers and engineers including Andy Sneap and Colin Richardson.
Why 'Deathflux' and what is the meaning of it?
TC: We settled on the name ‘Deathflux’ as being symbolic of the end of life constantly shifting and morphing both in terms of how we perceive it and yet what we still don’t know about what happens at the end of life.
Have you released an album? If so, when and what is it called?
TC: We released our debut album Execrated on April 30th 2018 available for streaming and download on numerous digital outlets, including Spotify, iTunes and GooglePlay.
Have you played with any famous bands?
TC: We haven’t played with anyone famous as such but we have played with a lot of awesome bands over the last couple of years.
What are your plans for the future?
TC: The plans are to continue to promote this album for the rest of the year, which will include touring for it as well. We can’t wait!
