FEATURE: Electric Bay Festival 2025 - Opening Night Preview - BLOC PARTY, THE CORAL, EVERYTHING EVERYTHING and more....

July 7, 2025

Get set for a thrilling kick-off to Electric Bay Festival on Friday 11 July 2025 at Torre Abbey Meadows. From post-punk pioneers to boundary-pushing newcomers, opening night’s lineup promises an irresistible blend of indie energy, dreamy psychedelia and dance-floor grooves.

Bloc Party

Emerging in the early 2000s, Bloc Party have outlasted the mid-noughties indie crowd to reach fresh heights two decades on. Their journey has taken them from sharp, hook-driven post-punk to experiments in electronic atmospheres and back again. With Kele Okereke’s urgent vocals and Russell Lissack’s angular guitar lines, they crafted the platinum-selling debut Silent Alarm—a record that married raw rock intensity with shimmering textures and helped redefine British indie rock.

The Coral

Formed in 1996 on the Wirral Peninsula, The Coral fuse 1960s psychedelia, pastoral folk-rock and touches of country with modern alternative flair. Across nine studio albums—including their Mercury‐nominated self-titled debut and fan favourite Magic and Medicine—they’ve honed a timeless sound full of swirling organs, pastoral guitars and sun-soaked melodies. Expect them to delve into classics like Dreaming of You and new gems from their most recent releases.

Everything Everything

Everything Everything occupy a singular space in modern art-pop, pairing dystopian, Black Mirror-style themes with intricate, hook-laden songcraft. Their fearless blend of off-kilter rhythms, soaring choruses and ambitious lyrical concepts has earned five consecutive Top 10 albums, multiple Ivor Novello nods and two Mercury Prize nominations. Prepare for a set that bridges cerebral experimentation and irresistible pop anthems.

Pattern Pusher

Hailing from Exeter’s DIY circuit, Pattern Pusher solidified their “indie disco” sound by 2017, weaving bright synth flourishes and funky basslines into sing-along choruses. Frontman Alex Johnstone and the Green brothers draw on the swooning electronics of Alt-J and James Blake, the grooves of Franc Moody and Jungle, and the heavier dance-rock of Justice and Daft Punk. Their live shows brim with modern-vintage flair and dancefloor urgency.

Holy Youth Movement

Born out of Bristol’s underground in early 2022, Holy Youth Movement crash rock ’n’ roll into electronic euphoria. They blend throbbing synth walls, driving bass and razor-sharp guitar riffs with anthemic vocals—what they call “electronic rock ’n’ roll.” Imagine primal rock energy colliding with EDM’s pulse: raucous rave-rock built for stadiums and warehouses alike. Their recent festival appearances have cemented them as one of the UK’s most thrilling new live acts.
