Geese by Mark Sommerfield

NEWS: NEW YORK's GEESE return with explosive new album ‘Getting Killed’ and lead single “Taxes”

July 8, 2025

Brooklyn’s genre-bending rock outfit Geese are back—and they’re not playing it safe. The band has just announced their third studio album, Getting Killed, alongside the release of its blistering lead single “Taxes,” a track that sets the tone for what promises to be their most audacious chapter yet. To mark the occasion, Geese are throwing a free pop-up show in New York today, giving fans a first taste of the chaos to come.

“Taxes” is a sonic collage—equal parts melodic and manic—anchored by frontman Cameron Winter’s theatrical, soul-baring vocals. It’s a fitting curtain-raiser for an album that tears down the band’s past and rebuilds from the rubble. Where 2021’s Projector flirted with post-punk abstraction and 2023’s 3D Country galloped through alt-country psychedelia, Getting Killed is the sound of a band unshackled, embracing contradiction and catharsis in equal measure.

Recorded over a month in Los Angeles with producer Kenneth Blume, Getting Killed is a wild, genre-splintering ride. It’s part tragicomedy, part existential howl—balancing raw vulnerability with a sharpened edge of fury. The band’s refusal to conform to traditional song structures feels less like rebellion and more like revelation. Each track pulses with the confidence of a group that’s found its voice by dismantling everything that came before.

The album also marks a full-circle moment for Winter, who recently stepped out with his solo debut Heavy Metal—a cryptic, critically adored detour that only deepened the intrigue around Geese’s next move. Now, reunited and recharged, the band is poised to deliver their most definitive statement yet.

Following the album announcement, Geese are gearing up for their largest headline tour to date. The Getting Killed tour will see them crisscross North America this autumn, bringing their explosive new sound to stages across the continent.

Geese’s rise has been anything but ordinary. With 3D Country now hailed as a modern classic—earning praise from Rolling Stone and Paste—the band has cemented their place among the most vital voices in rock’s new wave. Their festival résumé reads like a victory lap: Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, ACL, Newport Folk, and more. They’ve shared stages with King Gizzard, Jack White, and Vampire Weekend, and still manage to sound like no one but themselves.

With Getting Killed, Geese aren’t just evolving—they’re detonating expectations and daring listeners to follow them into the wreckage.
