British-Norwegian horror auteur Kyle Sevenoaks makes a chilling debut with Taste In Music, a cosmic cabin nightmare that’s already earning standing ovations and festival acclaim.

What happens when your keyboard turns against you? That’s the deliciously absurd—and terrifying—premise behind Taste In Music, the debut horror short from British-Norwegian director and composer Kyle Sevenoaks. After earning a standing ovation at Oslo’s Ravenheart Film Festival, the film has now been officially selected for Ramaskrik, Norway’s premier horror film festival, which took place in Oppdal from October 20–23.

Set in a remote Norwegian cabin accessible only by boat, Taste In Music follows a composer (played by Chris Wiborg) who’s forced to confront a cosmic evil that possesses his beloved keyboard during a freak storm. Equal parts psychological horror and dark comedy, the film is a self-contained descent into madness, scored with Sevenoaks’ signature blend of industrial and metal-infused sound design.

Shot on a shoestring budget of just a few hundred dollars, the film is a testament to Sevenoaks’ resourcefulness and vision. “I wanted to create a quick and tight, self-contained story that was fun and asks the question: what would you do in this ridiculous situation?” he explains. The result is a film that’s as much about creative obsession as it is about cosmic dread.

Sevenoaks, who also composed the score, is no stranger to the darker side of sound. Known for his work in the metal and industrial electronic scenes, he’s the creative force behind I, the Betrayer, a band featured in Metal Hammer and Norway Rock Magazine. His music has been used by streamers and content creators worldwide, and he’s performed at TwitchCon in both the US and Europe.

Starring in his first lead role, Chris Wiborg brings a twitchy, unhinged energy to the film’s protagonist. Half French, half Norwegian, and based in Oslo, Wiborg cut his teeth in local theatre and music videos before teaming up with Sevenoaks. The duo are already working on their next project under the Sevenoaks Films banner, set to wrap in 2025.
