Bloom’s sophomore album The Light We Chase is a cathartic, genre-defying triumph—melding melodic hardcore with shoegaze haze, post-hardcore grit, and emotional depth. Released 31 October via Pure Noise Records, it marks a bold new chapter for the Sydney five-piece.
Sydney’s Bloom have never shied away from emotional intensity, but with their second full-length album The Light We Chase, they’ve crafted something truly transcendent. Released via Pure Noise Records on 31 October 2025, the record is a sonic and lyrical reckoning—grief, nostalgia, longing, and hope collide in a whirlwind of melodic hardcore, shoegaze textures, and post-hardcore ferocity.
Following 2024’s conceptual debut Maybe In Another Life, the band—Jono Hawkey (vocals), Jarod McLaren and Oliver Butler (guitars), Andrew Martin (bass), and Jack Van Vliet (drums)—wrote and recorded The Light We Chase in just a few weeks. That urgency bleeds into the album’s DNA: it’s raw, reflective, and unflinchingly personal.
For the first time, Bloom invited collaborators into their world. The album features Patrick Miranda (Movements), Mikaila Delgado (Yours Truly), and Jack Bergin (Void Of Vision), each adding emotional weight and vocal dynamism to tracks like Keep You, Tongue Tied, and Act II.
Working with producer Sam Bassal (Ocean Grove, Thornhill), Bloom pushed their sound into new territory—melding Midwest emo melancholy, late ’90s pop-punk hooks, and crushing breakdowns. Tracks like Forget Me Not and Withered showcase their heaviest moments to date, while Glen Street and Only Sky explore loss and memory with cinematic tenderness.
Bloom’s rise has been meteoric. From sold-out Japanese headline shows to supporting Silverstein, Chelsea Grin, and Polaris, their live reputation is as fierce as their studio output. In 2023, they stormed Good Things Festival alongside Bad Omens and Thornhill, and their 2024 headline tour for The Works Of You sold out entirely.
Looking ahead, Bloom will celebrate The Light We Chase with a national headline tour in February 2026, joined by Seattle’s AVOID and Sydney’s Inertia. They’ve also locked in their first-ever American headline show in Chicago this November, marking a major milestone in their international ascent. For more info and tickets click HERE

The Light We Chase is Bloom at their most vulnerable, most experimental, and most powerful. As drummer Jack Van Vliet puts it: “You can’t catch light in your hands, and you can’t have darkness without the light casting its shadow.” This record is that light—and it’s burning brighter than ever.
