Two time Grammy nominated trio Highly Suspect today reveal new single 'Little One', available to stream now on YouTube, Apple Music & Spotify. The anthemic track shows a softer side to the trio's signature brand of blues-infused rock and is taken from the band's forthcoming sophomore album, 'The Boy Who Died Wolf', due November 18th via Columbia Records. You can pre-order 'The Boy Who Died Wolf' on iTunes now.
The moving, euphoric LP from the band is stronger, livelier and more mature. Discussing the new album, frontman Johnny Stevens states; "I think there's a little more step to this album. There's happier tones. There's some dark stuff too but there are simply more uplifting moments on this album. I think we finally realised we are supposed to be here making music, that people like what we do. We had more trust in ourselves and each other and just let the music come out." This feeling of celebration is spattered throughout the record, drawing influences from the likes of Queens of the Stone Age, Jack White and In Utero-era Nirvana.
On the inspiration for the album, Stevens says, "The title The Boy Who Died Wolf, it's like, we were so young and now we're adults," says Stevens. "I went through a lot of issues that I had to sort out and sometimes I can't believe that I'm alive. And now here I am traveling the world with my best friends, making music, and living the exact dream that we had set out to accomplish a long time ago … We're learning a different lifestyle. And it's good, it's positive. But it's also hard to let go of everything that happened in the past." The album was recorded in Bogota, Colombia and Brooklyn, New York with Joel Hamilton (The Black Keys, Tom Waits, Elvis Costello), who also worked with the band on their 2015 debut breakthrough record, 'Mister Asylum' which was nominated for 2 x Grammys - for Best Rock Album & for Best Rock Song for their single 'Lydia'.
Following the success of their debut UK tour in January & February this year, which included sold out shows at London's Old Blue Last & Black Heart, Highly Suspect are set to play two shows in the UK in November in support of 'The Boy Who Died Wolf', both of which sold out in a matter of days upon going on sale. The Brooklyn-based trio will headline The Dome in Tufnell Park on Friday 25th November before playing Manchester's Night & Day Café on Tuesday 29th November.
The band's global success has snowballed since 2014, featuring Grammy nods for their debut album, radio smashes ('Lydia' continues to be a staple at Rock & Alternative Radio in the US), major festival appearances (Reading & Leeds, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Pukkelpop, Lowlands etc.) and a number of headline tours across the United States, not to mention Australia, Europe & the UK.
