Seance by definition is a spiritual meeting and I must point out that among others 'A Seance of Dark Delusions" by the Nordic Giants is a well defined album, faultless and inspiring. The album allows the listener to visualise each sound, If I had to describe the collection in four words, these would be; experimental, electronic, dark and figurative, in a sense that moves beyond literal interpretation of sound into something more emblematic as well as apocalyptic. However it seems impossible to describe accurately this artwork in just four words.....
The whole album sounds like an instrumental soundtrack that draws upon electronica, drum n' bass and post-rock genres with progressive guitars, sophisticated loops of contextualised keys and sparse vocals. And concurrently these features are blended flawlessly with Nordic Giants' high level of experimentation to create a unique, ambient and dark sonic experience that imprint our emotional fluctuations.
Combine these features with an exceptionally inspiring instrumentation and remarkable acclaimed short animated films and actor led stories and the result will be a powerful and captivating digital journey that seems immersive and irresistible. You can have a taste of Nordic Giant's audiovisual intriguing and extraordinary work by watching the clip of “Rapture” featuring Beth Cannon which is included in 'A Seance of Dark Delusions' and parts of the duo’s previous live performances.
Their convincing bio points out that "for Nordic Giants the performance is the thing", so we have nothing but to wait until we can witness a live show by the promising duo. Fortunately this won't take long since the duo will be on seven date tour across UK in May. Their headline show in London will take place at the Village Underground on 4th May. 'A Seance of Dark Illusions' will be officially released on 27th April by kscope.
