Liverpudlian troubadour Rosenblume has announced details of his first official EP release: 'All Through The Fire, All Through The Rain’. The four track record is due to be released on 27th April 2015 via Conflict of Interest Records.
Taking its name from the stirring eponymous track "All The Fire, All Through The Rain", the EP comes as a labour of love from singer-songwriter Daniel 'Rosenblume' Ross after nearly two committed years in the making.
Inspired by the folk greats of Greenwich Village, Laurel Canyon and beyond, this confident debut release displays Rosenblume's penchant for songs wrought with passion and emotion, breathing new life into an art of writing long forgotten.
The EP's titular track and lead-off single "All Through The Fire, All Through The Rain" opens up this sepia sewn collection, Rosenblume's honeyed vocals flowing over delicate Stephen Fretwell-styled acoustica in this ode to loyalty and devotion. Speaking about its personal subject matter Rosenblume revealed:
"Through life’s challenges, I think it’s human nature to fight for something or for someone you would consider yourself loyal or devoted to. We all have dreams and ambitions...Through every obstacle and challenge (or through thick and thin as the saying goes) I’ll still be here. I felt this in particular summed up the themes of the EP. "
Despite being written in August 2014 and being the last track in which to be penned for the record, it didn't take long for Rosenblume to realise the striking track's place as a mainstay on the release.
As the EP goes on, the listener is guided through similar sentiments and emotions of loyalty and love or loss running through the piece.
"Constant Lover" was co-written with close friend and fellow singer-songwriter Daniel Pye AKA Yarbo. Built around an infectious riff licked with a gritty distortion plus an irresistible fiddle flourish, the song offers a bitter-sweet take on the difficulties of a relationship turning sour.
Elsewhere, "Lost In The Air" is a track inspired by the trials and tribulations that come with long distance relationships. Written on a small island in the middle of the mountainous terrain in Norway back in Summer 2013 the lyrics seemed to materialise themselves naturally in the isolated surroundings. Evolving from a simply plucked guitar track into the epic piano ballad it has now become, "Lost in The Air" boasts a huge chorus primed and ready for big sing-a-longs at their forthcoming live dates.
Proceedings come to a close with ‘Nerves Of Steel’, a track written around the same time as "Lost In The Air" but with a colossal ambition for its sound and production. “There’s no turning back from this road” sighs Rosenblume lugubriously, resignation creeping into vocals that hover upon erupting brass and string sections designed to lift the record into the soaring pop stratospheres as charted by pop-country premiers like Neil Diamond or Bellowhead.
All instruments featuring 'All Through The Fire, All Through The Rain’ were played live and then multi-tracked and recorded in total over a 4 month period in 2014. Recording in Rosenblume's own homemade studio, allowed the artist to refine the songs to his heart's content away from the pressures of professional studio fees. Tracks were written by Rosenblume over the last 2 years. Tracks were pre-produced with backline and keys with Rob Lewis at St Margret’s school in Toxteth (where Dan Croll tracked his drums for From Nowhere). Award-winning producer Tony Draper (Justice Collective, Natalie McCool, Kalandra, Mike Crossey) then took the helm on the mixing desk in 2015 to finish the EP.
'All Through The Fire, All through the Rain' EP will be officially released on 27th April 2015, available digitally from all online stores and stream sites including iTunes & Spotify and in CD format in all good record stores.
A limited edition run of the release in vinyl format will also be available from the Rosenblume website in due course.
