REPUBLICA Return: 30 years on, the Britpop fire still burns bright - Oct/Nov 2026 tour announced

March 30, 2026

Three decades after they first detonated onto the late‑90s landscape, Republica are stepping back into the spotlight with a full UK tour across October and November 2026 — a run that promises to reconnect fans with the fierce, neon‑lit energy that made them one of Britpop’s most distinctive forces.

For anyone who lived through the era, Republica were a jolt of electricity. Fronted by the incomparable Saffron, the band carved out their own lane within a scene dominated by swaggering guitars and lad‑centric bravado. Alongside Catatonia, Elastica, Sleeper and Skunk Anansie, they helped redefine what a female‑fronted British band could sound like: sharp, stylish, and unafraid to fuse techno‑pop, punk rock and electronica into something that felt like the future.

And then came the anthems. Ready to Go and Drop Dead Gorgeous became cultural fixtures, blasting from club speakers, MTV countdowns, student union nights and festival fields. Today, they’re enjoying a full‑blown renaissance, cropping up in everything from Captain Marvel to Yellowjackets and Ted Lasso, and finding a new generation of fans discovering Britpop for the first time.

That renewed attention has pulled Republica back into the cultural conversation. Saffron’s recent appearance with Alex James’ Britpop Orchestra felt like a passing of the torch and a reminder of just how central her voice remains to the era’s legacy.

Live, Republica have always been a different beast — high‑voltage, high‑tempo, and built for big rooms. Their history includes Glastonbury, Reading & Leeds, and even halftime performances during the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. This anniversary tour feels less like a nostalgia trip and more like a victory lap for a band whose influence never really faded.

“It’s incredible to think it’s been 30 years,” Saffron says. “These songs still feel as urgent and exciting as they did back then — we can’t wait to celebrate with everyone.”
