I’ve heard a lot about PALM READER but not a lot by them. Upon seeing that they were booked to perform at this year’s BURN IT DOWN FESTIVAL in the heart of Torquay, I decided to open up Pandora’s Box and take a listen, I’m glad I did! After filling my cup (and then some), I thought I’d drop the band a line and see if they wanted to answer a few questions about what it means to be playing at the festival and also what it means to be out performing to a live audience once again….
It's been a hell of a year for bands, what does it mean to you to be playing a festival once again?
After the year and a half everyone’s had it’s great to be able play live music again, for some people Burn it down is going to be their first show since lock down and the line up is absolutely stellar. This is our 2nd show back since lockdown so we’ll be playing a lot of songs from our new album Sleepless that came out last year. It’s a big relief to be able to finally be performing these songs after sitting on them for almost 2 years.
Burn it Down Festival is taking place NOW, looking at the lineup, which of the bands are you most excited about sharing the stage with?
There’s a tonne of bands we’re going to be checking out tomorrow, Static Dress, Bob Vylan, Nova Twins, James and the Cold Gun and Phoxjaw (supporting us at our two headline shows at the end of the year - Garage in London November 25th and Rescue Rooms on Nottingham December 14th) to name just a few.
For anyone who may not have heard you before, what type of music do you perform
We’re a rock band. We’ve got four albums on Spotify and our sound has grown quite a lot through out each album. Give us a listen and let our music speak for itself.
Can you describe a typical live performance (if there is such a thing)?
Burn it down won’t be a typical live performance for us, to name one thing we’re being joined by Conjurer’s guitarist Dan Nightingale and only the 2nd time playing some of these songs in front of an audience.
We’re looking forward to blasting off the cobwebs and making people bang their heads.
Lastly, where can people check out your music and keep up to date with you on the socials?
Our music is available on all streaming platforms but if you really want to support us please pick up some merch or a vinyl from Wearepalmreader.com, you can catch us on Twitter and Instagram
What are you waiting for folks, go check them out and if you saw them at Burn it Down Festival, go forth and spread the word!
