Shonen Knife are a ground-breaking all-female Japanese, pop-punk rock trio formed in Osaka in 1981, when Naoko first heard late ‘70’s punk-pop particularly the Ramones. Inspired, the band crafted their own idiosyncratic songs, fashioned brightly coloured outfits and DIY albums.

The London Community Gospel Choir have for years made a home of the Jazz Café. Every Noel they hold a festive show and belt out in their inimitable style a range of tunes from the Christmas catalogue. As a consequence it’s not a surprise to see them back at one of Camden’s premier music venues for a show that, outside of the limitations of a December set list, can be freer, more wide ranging and more experimental in its song choices. 

We were there to catch them perform....

There’s a young crowd buzzing around the Bristol Trinity Centre to witness the triumphant return of hometown heroes TURBOWOLF who are concluding their UK tour in support of new album ‘The Free Life’.

We heard that Kris Barras was performing in London in March 2018, days before the release of his sophomore album "The Divine and Dirty", we got together before the show and chatted about a whole bunch of stuff including the recording process for the new album, things he cannot live without whilst on tour and his love of DIY....

An invite landed in my inbox, it was to an event hosted by none other than Jon Boden (ex Bellowhead) to watch him perform his new body of work “Afterglow” at a special acoustic, bonfire event. There was little information available and I was informed that should I accept the RSVP, I would be told where to go earlier in the day of the event, read on to see how the evening unfolded from there.....
