Bemendé is definitely a powerhouse and has all the necessary tools to achieve longevity. Her soulful voice and gifted songwriting abilities guarantee her a spot on my playlist.

After having to reschedule their tour seven times owing to the pandemic, not even a fire at the original Bristol venue (SWX) was enough to sway THE LOVELY EGGS and make them throw in the towel as many other bands would have done!

Thankfully, the BEAUTIFUL people at The Fleece offered their venue so the show could indeed go on and go on it did, Glenn Morrison was on hand to attend, take photos and tell us how the evening panned out, take it away Glenn….

Since I heard Bailey Tomkinson’s track ‘Movie Scene’ being played on BBC Radio 2 by Brad Paisley goodness knows how long ago, I’ve wanted to find out more about this super talented singer songwriter from St Ives in Cornwall. After spotting her on the bill for Chagstock Festival in 2021, I took aim and got in touch with her manager and after a couple of emails, I had managed to secure some time to chat to her after her set.

With Hacienda DJ Graeme Park headlining the Friday, Everything Everything in the headline slot on the Saturday and Abi Rose Kelly on the Sunday, they’ve also got loads of hotly tipped acts on the bill including The Lounge Society, The Rills, Orchards, Pizzagirl, The Zangwills, Hadda Be and more.

The Lost Gecko are a Cork-based trio who set out to develop a distinctive and one-of-a-kind sound by embracing a wide range of musical influences, whilst still retaining their personality and style. From the immediacy of indie-folk down to the unique flow of modern acoustic music, anything goes. The mix of influences is truly spot-on here, allowing the audience to get a deeper glimpse at The Lost Gecko’s creativity. "I Can Hear Echoes" is an excellent calling card for this band, and a great way for the performers to set the bar higher in terms of amping up their presentation with a particularly striking video and adding a perfect musical moment to their discography.

As someone who is always on the lookout for new indie music, I was thrilled to see that a longtime favourite of mine, Cross Channel Music, had a new single. The single is titled “Bygone Days” and it has everything that originally got me hooked on the band’s music in the first place: rhythmic guitars, a thumping beat, and front man Pierre Lassegues’ personal lyrics and warm succinct vocals.

When it comes to debut singles, the results can be very hit or miss depending on the artist in question. Some artists need some time to refine their sound, which can leave their first couple of releases wanting. Others seem to just appear overnight as fully developed artists. Michelle Ward’s debut single “Dolly Daydreaming” is a sterling example of the latter of those two categories. This song is so well put together and so delightfully layered, that it is hard to believe this is Michelle’s debut single.

Parcels, the five-piece Australian pop-funk band NME called, “devilishly fun” have shared their new track and music video, “Comingback” out now on Because Music.

The UK’s best-selling country act and awarding winning duo The Shires have announced an intimate acoustic tour for Autumn 2021.

Chagstock festival has been going since 2007 and has played host to some of the finest bands available including Fun Lovin’ Criminals, The Selecter, Squeeze, The Blockheads, The Stranglers, New Model Army and The Boomtown Rats.

With the event being pulled in 2020, everyone was really looking forward to letting their hair down in 2021 and I for one was so grateful that it happened, just the thought of sitting with friends, chatting, drinking, laughing and dancing along to some amazing music was high up on my agenda as it was on many others and to see people enjoying themselves after being cooped up like battery hens without any live entertainment on offer was incredible.

The time has come folks, if you wanted to start planning your time at BOARDMASTERS FESTIVAL, this news will certainly help you to know which acts are performing and where. You’ll have to wait until nearer the date until set times are revealed but at least you can see where you will be heading in order to catch your favourite bands and artists over the entire weekend.

BOARDMASTERS SHARES GUIDELINES FOR COVID-19

CORNWALL’S OWN SURF AND MUSIC FESTIVAL IS , RETURNING TO WATERGATE BAY & FISTRAL BEACH, IN NEWQUAY THIS SUMMER

With BOARDMASTERS FESTIVAL having been given the green light to go ahead this year, we wanted to tell you about some of the acts that will be appearing away from the main stage.

We will focus on THE VIEW stage first which is a wonderful place to sit and chill, recharge your brains and take in the splendid views of the Cornish coastline whilst bands and artists do their thing.

Here’s a few acts that we think you should definitely make a beeline for…..

What the hell is that noise? that repetitive chiming sound.....is that an alarm? Why the hell is its going off at 6am on a Saturday morning? It took me a few seconds to register as my brain engaged, it was Record Store Day (Drop 2) and I had to be in Newton About in 45 minutes to take some pictures of the queue, the stock and the happy smiley faces of the record buying public that make this event worth covering, I’d best get up!

Now that Master Boris has given us the green light to get down and party from July 19th, I wanted to focus on a venue which is situated in the heart of Exeter and is very close to my heart. I’ve been attending live shows here since the 90’s and it was the first venue that allowed us to photograph bands that were performing, this really gave us a boost and allowed us to use the content in order to reach out to larger venues and massive festivals which are now main events on our calendars…

I am of course talking about Exeter Phoenix, looking at the sheer volume of acts they have booked, we’re VERY excited, you should be too! Here’s a summary of some of the events that you should be attending from now until the end of September 21.
