After recently celebrating his 62nd birthday while on this tour, the long hair is gone, as are the wild outfits, this show focused purely on the music. With a band assembled from top class muscians, this four piece trotted through tracks from over 30 years of Steve Vai’s career.

Another day, another dollar…..or should that be another day, another playlist? They really are like buses at the moment, I go for a couple of weeks without much new content and then…..BOOM! along come 9 tracks that are too good not to showcase!

It’s been a while since I put out the last playlist, this was not due to lack of quality content, more so me taking a well earned break from the keyboard for up to 3 hours every night, listening, curating and writing about some of the acts that were kind enough to submit their music to a tremendous platform called musosoup which equate to around 75% of the music that I consume these days!

Having been living under a rock for the last 10 years, I wasn’t really down with Beardyman’s work, but was asked to go along to Exeter Phoenix to check him out and since I’m local to the venue, I figured why not. I had admittedly heard of his beatboxing endeavours, which saw him win the UK Beatbox Championships twice in a row back in 2006-2007. Since then, Beardyman has released a number of singles and two albums, whilst simultaneously carving out a niche for himself on the live circuit with his genre-defying performances. Beardyman is listed on his Wikipedia page as a beatboxer, musician and comedian which goes some way to explaining what you can come to expect from one of his shows.

I saw a wonderful band called WEDNESDAY’S CHILD performing on the main stage at The Great Estate Festival a couple of weekends ago and despite them being available to chat after their set, I wasn’t prepared and short of wasting their time, I agreed to hook up with them once they were safely back on home soil so they could make a brew and sit down to chat to us about their musical upbringing, influences, dream festival lineups, new releases and of course festival survival tips. To celebrate the release of their latest track ‘Change Your Mind’, we hooked up with Danny (guitar/vocals) and Tim (bass) from a Garage Rock Power Trio called Hybrid Kid, there is a third member called Fabio (drums) but he was busy painting his garden shed and couldn’t risk the paint drying unevenly so they gave him the afternoon off. As a trio, they’ve been pushing the envelope for a few years now in a way that only Tim (the wannabe postman) can truly understand. With kooky riffs, hooky choruses and their mind expanding shows they've been wowing the south coast and now they’re coming for you. We had a good chat about their musical beginnings, influences, dream festival lineups, living in America and loads more, here’s how we got on….

Half way through an extra long bank holiday weekend, the memory of the ‘plague’ disappearing in the rear view mirror, anticipation was high for the many time re-arranged show nestling along side a 4 day break for many, fuelling the party atmosphere.

It seemed like only days had passed since the last time we were stood in a field in Cornwall watching bands and artists perform for the lucky people who had paid to come along and be entertained for the weekend, that was Rattlerfest at the end of April, which, despite the fact that Spring was still in full swing, as quite warm. Fast forward to the Queen’s platinum jubilee weekend and here we were again, in Cornwall but this time at a different site, Scorrier House to be precise and things had definitely improved weather wise, would it last, only time would tell!

At the time of writing this, Harry Styles has 71.5 million followers on Spotify and over 618.5 million listening streams of lead single ‘As It Was’, taken from his third album proper in 5 years since becoming a solo artist. That is quite an achievement, especially when you know that said single was released just over 4 weeks ago. Of course, the number of plays or sales of any album is, in and of itself, not a guarantee of quality or memorability. However, in Harry’s case, it is possible to make a big, beaming exception.
