The heavy bass then enters the soundscape along with some emphatic drumming that you can feel in your chest. Bigman himself then comes in with his snarling remarks of anger towards the establishment and the conventions of the working world.

Her Skin describes herself as a Caramelised singer songwriter with an intimate freak folk and faded punk flavour filling and this track is the perfect embodiment of that. A simple but clever soundscape allows the lyrics to breathe and feel as if she is in the room talking to the listener. There is also a precise use of layering throughout the track to create distinct rise and falls, heightening the emotive content throughout.

The music video for the track was released on YouTube over on the 22nd of July. Directed by Giacomo Sala, the video further proves how much thought Kihmy has put into this entire song as a piece of art; a carefully manufactured atmosphere guided by soft piano and deep-ocean vocals.

What makes this release special is the fact that it provides a much deeper insight into the personality and vibe that drives this artist and his vision. Instead of getting stuck in the usual creative clichés, Connor likes to shuffle the decks and try new things. This release is a perfect example of that.

This was my first time at WOMAD Festival and whilst I didn’t get to see all of the acts that I had hoped to, here are a few that really caught my attention.

We were fortunate enough to see KULA SHAKER when they performed at CHAGSTOCK recently and whilst onsite, we were due to chat to Crispian Mills from the band.
