In a moment that fused legacy with rebellion, YUNGBLUD stepped onto the hallowed turf of Villa Park on July 5th and delivered a performance that will echo through rock history. His live rendition of Black Sabbath’s 1972 ballad Changes, now released as a charity single, wasn’t just a cover—it was a torch-passing, a tribute, and a rallying cry for the healing power of music.

The concert, aptly titled Back to the Beginning, marked Black Sabbath’s final bow in their Birmingham hometown. With over 40,000 fans in attendance and a lineup that included Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Slayer, and Pantera, the event became the highest-grossing charity concert of all time. But it was YUNGBLUD—backed by a supergroup featuring Nuno Bettencourt, Sleep Token’s II, Frank Bello, and Adam Wakeman—who stole hearts with a stripped-back, emotionally raw take on Changes.
Ozzy Osbourne himself gave the ultimate seal of approval: “He did an amazing job. I couldn’t have done it better myself”.
YUNGBLUD dedicated the performance to the late Liverpool footballer Diogo Jota, adding a layer of poignancy to an already soul-baring moment. Dressed in a red armband bearing Jota’s name, he sang with a vulnerability that cut through the grandeur of the night. “This was hands down the biggest moment of my entire life,” he said. “I got to stand on stage and honour one of my heroes, and the fact that it has touched so many is truly overwhelming”1.
Released today, Changes – (Live from Villa Park) is more than a single—it’s a fundraiser. All proceeds go to Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and Acorns Children’s Hospice. “Stream it, buy it, add it to your playlist—let’s raise some f*cking money,” YUNGBLUD urged fans.
Mercury Studios has announced that Back to the Beginning: Ozzy’s Final Bow will hit cinemas in early 2026. The feature-length concert film will immortalise the night that brought together generations of rock royalty and fans from around the globe.
