NORMANS announce debut album Faust Demonica — A stark, ritualistic descent into power, pressure and control

May 1, 2026

Southern California’s electronic provocateurs NORMANS have announced their debut album Faust Demonica, arriving 5th June 2026 on Solid Brass, and if their early output hinted at confrontation, this record makes it explicit. The trio of Matthew Reid, Michael Perry Rudes, and Kyle Souza have spent the past three years forging a sound that sits somewhere between post‑punk, industrial discipline and noise‑driven physicality. With Faust Demonica, they push that tension into its most deliberate and refined form yet.

The album is preceded by the new single ‘Mexico Unlimited’, out 12th May, a track that captures NORMANS at their most kinetic: fast, hypnotic, and unrelenting. Beneath its forward‑charging rhythm lies a narrative of temptation, compulsion and the uneasy slide between movement and escape, a perfect distillation of the band’s fascination with pressure and psychological fracture.

Formed in 2021, NORMANS quickly carved out a reputation for music that rejects comfort. Their early releases were marked by urgency, repetition and a refusal to settle into any familiar stylistic frame. Critics picked up on the volatility immediately: Scene Point Blank described them as “synth‑laced noise punk reminiscent of 1979, 1994, 2011 and 2024”, while Buzzbands.la called their sound “dark, menacing, ear‑splitting and chaotic.”

That sense of confrontation remains, but Faust Demonica introduces a new level of precision. The record leans into clarity and atmosphere without softening the edges, polished electronic production meets a darker melodic discipline, creating a work that feels both meticulously controlled and permanently on the verge of rupture.

A key shift in the album’s conceptual weight comes from Reid’s engagement with G. I. Gurdjieff’s Fourth Way and related esoteric traditions. Rather than adopting these ideas as narrative devices, NORMANS weave them into the album’s structure and visual identity. Themes of authority, submission, awakening and the fear beneath social order recur throughout, giving Faust Demonica the feel of a ritual rather than a story, an examination of power and consciousness built on tension rather than release.

Michael Perry Rudes — drums

Faust Demonica was produced by Reid and recorded between Living Room (Hollywood) and Oken House Studios (Joshua Tree). The album was mixed and engineered by Austin Asvanonda and mastered by Greg Obis at Chicago Mastering.

Faust Demonica is a declaration of intent. NORMANS have crafted a record that is uncompromising in form, concept and execution, one that treats electronic music not as a palette but as a pressure system. It’s music built to confront, to unsettle, and to demand attention.

Vinyl and digital formats land 5th June 2026. If the singles are any indication, this album will hit with the force of something ritualistic, disciplined and entirely its own.
