Nothing But Thieves are a Southend on Sea based 5 piece that are making big waves in the musical pond right now. They recently appeared in 'Q' Magazine (December 2014 Page 35 to be precise) and also in the February 2015 edition (pages 50-51) and it was here that I first stumbled upon them.

Rock legends EUROPE announced in 2014 that they were to tour in 2015 alongside American heavyweights Black Star Riders, the tour will take in twelve cities over fourteen dates throughout March 2015.

The Grubby Mitts are a band from Bedford, UK lead by acclaimed artist Andy Holden alongside long-term collaborators and friends Johnny Parry, Roger Illingworth, James MacDowell and John Blamey.  Now in their early thirties, they have been playing together in various line-ups since the age of twelve. This album has taken 8 years to complete.

There's plenty of reasons to be grateful to Minnesota; the state is the birthplace of masking tape, the stapler, Green Giant vegetables and Aveda beauty products... and as if it hasn't given us enough already, it's giving The Persian Leaps to us too.

We met up with Drew from the band at the Saint Paul's branch of Izzy's Ice Cream (2034 Marshall Avenue, Saint Paul, MN 55104) where we were forced to make some really tough decisions, which flavour of ice cream were we gonna try? I had my heart set on the butter pecan or quite possibly the salted caramel, Drew was in a complete mess, he didn't know what he wanted, in the end I ordered him a maple nut cone, ushered him to a booth and sat down, we ate most of ice cream, then had a good old chat about archaeology, starting your own record label and what he sings in the shower, here's how it went....

It was another dreary January evening, a fine rain was descending on our windscreen and as we drove through the quiet streets of Plymouth we talked about the bands on the bill for the evenings entertainment. Was it to be a washed out affair with my photographer and I standing about chatting to the promoter or were we to be wowed by the sonic amazingness of the bands on the bill, read on to find out!
