We were invited to attend DOWNLOAD FESTIVAL 2019 to chat to some of the finest bands on the planet, who are we to turn down an opportunity like that!

Is it nearly a year ago that I started to spread the word about THE finest 3 day festival in Devon? I guess it is, well, I’d best pull my finger out and tell you about some of the FABULOUS bands and artists that are appearing at this year’s BEAUTIFUL DAYS FESTIVAL that is taking place at Escot Park from 16th - 18th August.

We’ve also curated a wonderful playlist for you, just hit play and marvel in the fact that each and every band and artist on the playlist will be appearing at the festival in August….

ANDY QUICK is a huge talent and is never content to rest on his laurels, he’s spent the last two years establishing a loyal following for his eponymous band. They have evolved massively over the last couple of years since the band formed and recorded their debut Album. Playing live so often has also helped them tone themselves up into a truly tight combo.

We took a listen to his new EP Diamond Sounds which is available from today, read on to see what we thought….

Tonight was the night that The Wedding Present hit Exeter to celebrate 30 years since the release of their classic album Bizarro’, featuring some incredible tracks such as ‘Brassneck’ and ‘Kennedy’, I for one was really excited for an incredible show, I wasn’t disappointed, read on to see how the evening unfolded.

Once again, Scandinavia delivers once again with another menacing black/death metal outfit, Godhead Machinery and their second album, Aligned to the Grid.  This is an album with a lyrical basis in the heresy of politics and religion, the lyrics are as scathing as the music itself.

MTV hit Plymouth this week and along with a slew of daytime events including Q&A's with some of the music industries leading faces, local musicians and artists, a massive show was put on at Plymouth Pavilions with a killer list of acts made up of PALE WAVES, THE AMAZONS, YUNGBLOOD and THE VACCINES. We were there to cover the entire event and grab some quality photos of all acts, read on to see how we got on.

After months of speculation, KEANE, one of Britain’s most beloved bands are back with a brand new album out September 20th on Island Records, featuring the powerful first single ‘The Way I Feel’. Watch the video HERE.

They tour the UK in Sept/Oct including two dates at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

It was 9am on Friday 24th May, I was sat in a Heathrow hotel, attempting breakfast ahead of a flight to New York with my family when a reminder popped up on my phone, it was for a one off gig at The 100 Club in the heart of London featuring a ‘Super-Group’ made up of members from MUSE, BLUR, JET and THE ZUTONS as well as the legendary frontman MILES KANE. They call themselves ‘The Jaded Hearts Club Band’ and tickets were VERY limited. I did what everyone does and gave up after 10 minutes of trying via the usual website and decided to leave it a while and tuck into a slice of toast. Shortly afterwards, I tried the site again and imagine the look on my face when a single ticket request proved fruitful…. I was going to what can only be described as one of the best gigs in the world!

It’s been a while since Dinosaur Pileup released any new material, October 2015 to be exact and this was in the shape of a tremendous record called 11:11, fast forward three and a half years and we reach June 2019 and its high time they put out something new, oh, hang on, is that the doorbell, it sounds like the postie with a special delivery for me, 2 mins, I’ll be right back!

Three hours and six listens later…….

Think of Cornwall, long winding sandy beaches, beautiful pasties and lazy lunches topped off with a cream tea in the afternoon, but dig a little deeper and you’ll find some musical treasure in the form of an Alt Rock/Post-Hardcore quartet called HYPOPHORA buried beneath the delights that attract so many holidaymakers to the county.

I’ve heard a lot about this band and when I found out that they’ll be performing at this year’s BURN IT DOWN FESTIVAL in Torquay, I thought it was high time we had a quick chat to find out more about the band, here’s how we got on….

Where else on this earth are you going to see a band made up of members from Queens of the Stone Age, Arctic Monkeys and The Last Shadow Puppets? I’ll tell you where….Exeter Cavern!

We were invited along to catch a Los Angeles trio called MINI MANSIONS ply their trade, read on to see how we got on.  

You’ll probably be aware that we are running Q&A features with bands that are going to be performing at this year’s BURN IT DOWN FESTIVAL that takes place in Torquay on August 31st.

We caught up with HOPS, a South West based Math-Rock-Pop band who don’t sing songs to help you with your times-tables to chat about the festival, which of the other acts they’re looking forward to catching and new music, here’s how we got on….
