We were fortunate to see a band called SOOT SPRITE perform in Torquay just before Christmas, I have a feeling I may have seen them before but this was the first time I actually stood and watched their entire set, I liked it, I liked it a lot, I liked it so much, I chatted to Eli afterwards and she agreed to take part in an ‘Introducing’ feature for the site. We discussed topics such as how she first got into music, influences that made her want to pick up a guitar in the first place and of course, which three things she simply cannot live without, read on to find out all this and more….

I was fortunate to see local rapper Louis J Walker perform at Exeter’s OXJAM event in 2019, we caught up briefly after his set and I asked him if he’d like to take part in our ‘Introducing’ feature on the website, he said he’d love to (who wouldn’t?)

We chatted about his forthcoming EP, supporting AITCH at The Lemongrove in Exeter on January 17th and who he would most like to collaborate with in the future. For all this and WAY more, please read on….

As well as bands and musicians, I reach out to other people who, whilst they are not themselves involved in the ‘music scene’, still play a pivotal role in helping bands and artists to promote and market their services.

I recently got in touch with Paddy who runs a local company called ‘Badges 4 Bands’, whilst the name sort of describes what his company does, I still wanted to have a chat and find out more about the services he offers.

There was a feeling of nostalgia in the air at The Lemongrove tonight as two of the mightiest alternative/indie bands who gained magnificent success in the early 90’s prepared to take the audience on a musical roller coaster from the late 1980’s to present day.

I was amazed that so many people were wearing T-Shirts from ‘back in the day’, I had even managed to dig an old ‘Stuffies’ long sleeved shirt out of a bin liner in my attic, it smelt, it was oversized but who cares, this was a shirt I bought after falling in love with the band the first time around and I was proud as fuck to be celebrating the fact that, even after 30 years, Miles Hunt was still at the helm, driving the band forwards to pastures new….

‘Monster’ is the third single from Daniel Steer’s forthcoming solo album due for release in February 2020.  The album sees a return to Daniel’s indie rock roots and exudes the optimism of a man who has confronted his demons head on and has overcome.  Dark places are visited and ghosts are exorcised with uplifting, infectious melodies and quirky lyrics.

Doobie Fontaine are a musical alter ego for a roving international four-piece from the UK, Australia and New Zealand. Based in London, they make timeless, country highway-inspired music, with hints of blissed-out psychedelia and invoking pastoral bliss. I was recently sent news of their new single ‘Sugarcoated’ which is out now and is being showcased at a launch party on December 20th at the famous Shacklewell Arms in London (more on that below).

I wanted to learn more about the band and contacted them to see if they’d be up for a chat, they were…..read on to see how it went.

Where to start, really? Whilst I am still reeling in layers of JOY from the recent IDLES end of year / era gig at Ally Pally last weekend, they only released ‘Mercedes Marxist’, apart from the seriously exciting trio of new tunes as live, so I cannot list them here. It matters not, since it’s highly likely they will be front, centre and forward by this time next year.
