We lift the lid on ten lesser known festive tracks that may just get you through advent without needing to drink bleach or violently insert a pineapple into ones back passage.

Following the Gaz Brookfield show in Worcester on the Friday night, we went along to the Fish and Fiddle on the Saturday night to get another gut full of music from him. This time he was supported by O'Halloran.

If you haven’t heard of The K’s yet, then you will before long. They are one of the UK’s fastest rising bands and they are selling out shows all over the country. 2024 is already set to be busy with their highly anticipated debut album ‘I Wonder If The World Knows’ and an impressive run of headline shows kicking off in April.

Three words that meant a lot to me in the 90’s were Ocean, Colour and Scene, put them together and you have the name of a British rock band that rose to fame during the madness that was known as the Britpop years. After touring with the likes of Paul Weller and OASIS, they were picked up by a major label and their music became nationally and internationally know. Despite their sophomore album ‘Moseley Shoals’ picking up mixed to positive reviews, it went on to produce 4 singles "The Riverboat Song", "The Day We Caught the Train", "The Circle" and "You've Got It Bad" which all charted well at the time, securing them national radio play and even a slot on the bill at the famous Knebworth gigs that OASIS put on in 1996. 

Blindness & Light continues with their cascade of post-punk releases with “My Rolex Is Better Than Yours” which was released today.

Ahead of the release of their brand new compilation album, Rebel Diamonds, tomorrow (8th December), The Killers have added four extra dates in Dublin, Manchester, Glasgow and London to their celebratory 2024 tour due to exceptional demand during early ticket pre-sales. The band have also announced that special guests Travis will perform across the tour.

I’ve been excited about this gig since its announcement and even more so when I saw who had been chosen by Sleaford Mods as Support. With Big Special and Emily Breeze transforming this from a great to an excellent lineup for me and a few friends. Anticipation levels were high as we all got together in Bristol’s oldest pub, ‘The Hatchet’ for a few pre-show drinks. This is pub that always brings back memories from past gigs as it’s situated a stone’s throw from tonight’s venue, Bristol’s very own 02 Academy. This gig sold out ages ago, I think this had something to do with the quality of support acts, so I felt lucky to have been given the chance to attend and pen a few words.

I was asked a few weeks back if I would like to attend an event in Bath where a band called The Bookshop Band would be performing a couple of tracks lifted form their forthcoming new album ‘Emerge, Return’ and revealing the artwork that was created by Stanley Donwood, an English artist and writer, who, since 1994, has created all the artwork for the rock band Radiohead with their singer, Thom Yorke, plus his other projects, including Atoms for Peace and the Smile. He also creates artwork for Glastonbury Festival and has published books of writing. I was also told that Pete Townshend, yes, the guitarist from The Who, would also be in attendance, would I be there? Just you try and stop me!
